Is Black Music goes to the movies
This is the 4th year the Afrikans on Film festival has been hosted at the Bussey Building aka CLF Art Cafe. Why is it so important to us, you might wonder.
Well, imagine walking into a three-storey building, and on every floor there are people of different nationalities and persuasions, speaking and sitting with each other watching arty films from Africa.
You see one film, then you see another. You go from floor to floor. And everywhere you turn there is a relaxed smile and a simple greeting.
You have just entered the Afrikans on Film festival at the Bussey Building.
The lights go out, and the movie magic begins once again.

SLEEPING DOGS words & music by Stew, additional lyrics by Art Terry
“I really think that you should let sleeping dogs lie. I think that you should give her a break. You can’t take her out to any movie show. You can’t take her out, cause she hasn’t got time to go.
I found relationships too emotional, like squeezing your body thru a crack, so I go to movies to release the stress, to watch Fassbinder explode and to watch Spike Lee confess.
Charles Burnett, Malcolm, Melvyn van Peebles or Godard. None of these cats can change her life. They can’t understand a young woman like her. Even Julie Dash’s daughters need more than celluloid light.
I really think that you should let sleeping dogs lie. I think that you should give her a break. You can’t take her out to any movie show. You can’t take her out, cause she hasn’t got time to go.”
